Aluminium accumulation: concern in CKD (reduced excretion), dialysis patients (dialysis dementia), and infants. EFSA tolerable weekly intake: 1mg/kg. Drug interactions: reduces absorption of fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines, iron, thyroxine, digoxin — take medications 2+ hours apart. Generally safe in healthy adults at antacid quantities.
Aluminium salt used as food colour (white pigment), antacid, and vaccine adjuvant. E173. Aluminium bioavailability from hydroxide form very low. Regulatory concern about dietary aluminium accumulation in sensitive populations.
Acts on cellular signalling pathways relevant to the documented clinical indications. Contains bioactive compounds with enzyme-modulating, receptor-binding, or antioxidant properties studied in peer-reviewed literature.
