Food-matrix naturally-occurring folates in their tetrahydrofolate forms. Preferred over synthetic folic acid for MTHFR-variant individuals.

Mechanism of action

Converted to 5-MTHF which donates methyl groups to homocysteine via methionine synthase regenerating THF for thymidylate synthesis. Essential for cell division, DNA synthesis, and neural tube closure.
